Anderson Animal Shelter.

On Saturday, at 11:00 AM, I had my volunteer orientation at Anderson in South Elgin. There was a surprisingly large amount of people there. The volunteer coordinater, Joy, a very sweet lady who always wears cowboy boots and has stunning green eyes, gave us her little spiel about our responsibilities and what it would take to become a volunteer and then took us around the shelter. I proudly bought my blue volunteer T-shirt. XD

They have a kitty room where there's just a big old kitty jungle gym in the center of the room, with cages around the perimeter. But the kitties roam free! XD And they all seem so sweet and affectionate. There was one in particular with a black cap pattern on her head and three black spots on her back who just started purring as soon as I touched her. She didn't have a little colored paper collar on, so I'm not sure of her name, but hopefully I'll be able to find her again.

The dog section was very small. I'm not sure if this is a good or bad thing since it means that the demand for space for stray dogs is low, but it also means I won't be around many dogs. There was one little bull terrier mix who was positively adorable. His name was Aries and I'm hoping beyond hope that he'll still be there in the following weeks so that I can snap his picture and get to know him a bit.

Unfortunately, I forgot my camera, but I have my kitty mentoring session on Tuesday at 3:30 PM with Mimi. I'll definitely be posting some pictures.
